Stitch is a women’s sewing and craft group for the multicultural community in Hobart. The program commenced in 2004 in response to the needs expressed by women who were new to the state. Stitch is a place for women to feel safe, find a sense of belonging, whilst learning new skills and practicing their English.
Stitch welcomes women from all multicultural backgrounds and provides support to:
Learn machine sewing and other crafts to create and mend items such as clothes, household items or gifts
Practice English with volunteers and other women from the community
Form friendships and build a sense of community through positive social interaction and cross cultural learning
Provide information about community services, programs and events
When required, provide referrals to access supports such as housing, health, counselling, education, employment, legal etc
Stitch runs on Thursdays and Fridays from 10am – 2pm during school terms
Lunch is provided for a gold coin donation
